181 Washington Street
A Boxford ice cream stand that started on a front porch during the Great Depression and is still run by the same family. The small-batch scoops shine brightest when local fruit is in season — native strawberry, fresh peach, even sweet corn make appearances. Open spring through October, and the kind of old-fashioned stop that makes a country drive feel like an outing.
