Bird Research in Action: Bird Banding at Wellfleet Bay
Friday, November 13, 2026, 8:30 AM · Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary · Wellfleet
Visit Wellfleet Bay's active bird-banding station to see how researchers safely capture, measure, band, and release migrating songbirds. Licensed Master Bander James Junda and the research team explain the station's methods and what its long-running data reveals about changing bird populations. Live-bird viewing depends on conditions and bird welfare; the station is wheelchair accessible, and seating is available on request. Please check in 15 minutes early. Sanctuary admission for the rest of the day is included. Adult and child admission is $18 for nonmembers or $14 for Mass Audubon members. Registration is required for each attendee.
